Description:
The Western New York Library Support Staff (WNYLSS) Committee is surveying to assess training and networking opportunities available to staff at WNYLRC member libraries. The survey findings will help us develop strategies for improving access to training opportunities for all library staff in our region.
The objectives of this survey are to help WNYLSS committee members:
- Understand your perspectives and experiences relating to how your organization supports training opportunities for library staff in non-professional roles.
- Gauge the perceptions of library support staff regarding their current training and networking opportunities.
- Pinpoint barriers hindering support staff from accessing adequate training and networking opportunities.
There are two anonymous surveys we ask you and your team members to complete:
-
Management Survey - This survey is for executive directors, system directors, and branch or department managers supervising at least ONE library employee
-
Support Staff Survey - This survey applies to any library employee in a position where an MLS or equivalent degree is NOT required. This applies to all areas of library operations, such as youth or adult services, administration, and facility management.
Staff who do not fit into either target group are not eligible to complete the survey.
We kindly ask all WNYLRC member library staff to complete a version of the survey if you are part of either target audience. Additionally, we ask for your assistance in distributing this survey to all other relevant colleagues or staff members.
The survey will take approximately 8-10 minutes to complete. The deadline to participate is Friday, January 31st, 2025.
Thank you for your time and assistance with this initiative!
