Description:

This session will be an introduction to the PHP language including programming concepts. Students will learn about variables, arrays, functions, conditional statements, and looping structures. PHP can be embedded in an HTML file to provide interactivity with a back-end server for database and file access.

Knowledge of HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript is recommended.

We do have limited number of laptops for use, but you may want to bring your own. You must install the necessary software before attending this class. It will take about 30-45 minutes to do so. Here are Jim's instructions for installation: http://jimgerland.com/phpguide/ch02.php?ver=ub

Jim Gerland has been involved in IT support and teaching for over 30 years. He has delivered hands-on classes in Adobe, Database Design, Microsoft Office, Web Design, Microsoft Project 2007, Microsoft SQL, etc. Jim also provides one-on one and on-site training in advanced application topics. He has delivered training to Certo Bros (MS Outlook), D’Youville College (Office), Independent Health (Oracle/SQL), JW Danforth (Office), Purina Foods (Minitab – Six Sigma), Welch Foods (Oracle/SQL), WNYLRC (HTML, CSS, & JavaScript) and other companies. Jim is currently Adjunct Faculty at Millard Fillmore College (University at Buffalo) teaching Web Programming I (HTML/CSS/JavaScript), Web Programming II (PHP/MySQL), Systems Analysis, Microcomputer Applications, the Computer Information Systems Department (Buffalo State College) teaching Computer Fundamentals, Electronic Commerce, Oracle Database, Object Oriented Programming, Web Programming I (HTML/CSS/JavaScript), Web Programming II (PHP/MySQL). Jim has also taught Web Design and Advanced Web Design at Niagara County Community College in the Digital Arts Department and Computer Literacy and Information Technology in the Business Department at Trocaire College.
