Description:

This session will cover:

Introduction to programming concepts using the JavaScript language.

    - variables, conditionals, loops, functions, writing output to a web page

    - using JavaScript to modify the page content and look and feel

 

No prior programming experience is required.  Students should be a flash (thumb) drive to save their work.

Speaker Bio:

Jim Gerland has been involved in IT support and teaching for over 30 years. He has delivered hands-on classes in Adobe, Database Design, Microsoft Office, Web Design, Microsoft Project 2007, Microsoft SQL, etc. Jim also provides one-on one and on-site training in advanced application topics. He has delivered training to Certo Bros (MS Outlook), D’Youville College (Office), Independent Health (Oracle/SQL), JW Danforth (Office), Purina Foods (Minitab – Six Sigma), Welch Foods (Oracle/SQL), WNYLRC (HTML, CSS, & JavaScript) and other companies. Jim is currently Adjunct Faculty at Millard Fillmore College (University at Buffalo) teaching Web Programming I (HTML/CSS/JavaScript), Web Programming II (PHP/MySQL), Systems Analysis, Microcomputer Applications, the Computer Information Systems Department (Buffalo State College) teaching Computer Fundamentals, Electronic Commerce, Oracle Database, Object Oriented Programming, Web Programming I (HTML/CSS/JavaScript), Web Programming II (PHP/MySQL). Jim has also taught Web Design and Advanced Web Design at Niagara County Community College in the Digital Arts Department and Computer Literacy and Information Technology in the Business Department at Trocaire College.

Unconference: INTERSECT: Where People & Ideas Meet! (Early Bird Registration)

INTERSECT is not your grandmother's library conference!

This brand new regional gathering of library and information professionals will be taking place at the Hilton Garden Inn, Buffalo, NY on Friday, October 5, 2018.

The purpose of INTERSECT is to facilitate a culture of co-learning among librarians and other interested professionals in the region by bringing people together to network and share ideas in an interactive, engaging, informal setting where participants determine the content.

Activities, including workshops and tours, will be held during lunch time.

Early bird registration will be available to everyone until August 15th, after which the registration price will increase to $40 for WNYLRC members and $50 for non-members.
