Job Title: Information Technology Assistant
Department: IT Reports to: IT Manager
Supervise Others: No
Schedule: Full Time
Position Overview:
Implements and supports the hardware and software needs of a library system serving 38 library locations.
Key Responsibilities/Functions:
-
Supports and maintains IT operations to adhere to the System’s established vision, goals, and objectives

Follows the guidance and focus of the IT Manager
-
Informs and updates the IT Manager on the status of IT systems and services in member libraries
-
Works with the IT Manager to maintain an inventory of the System hardware and software resources
-
Tests, troubleshoots, repairs current System and Member Library hardware and software inventory
-
Follows policy, standards, and procedures for all activities of IT operations
-
Suggests ways to efficiently serve the technology needs of Member Libraries
-
Maintains documentation on work performed, procedures, and training guides
-
Assists in the installation and configuration of web based applications such as System ILS and Office 365
-
Provides informal software training to member library staff during visits as needed
-
May be asked to perform formal training if needed
-
Documents IT related problems and resolutions for future reference
-
Conducts research and evaluation of new technologies as directed and stays current with IT trends
-
Assists system staff with gathering data for state annual reports upon request
-
Regular travel within Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties required

Reliable transportation required

Other duties and responsibilities, as assigned
Qualifications and Skills Required:
-
Working knowledge of various desktop or server operating systems, such as Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, and Android operating systems, applications, and utilities
-
Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards
-
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with web-based resources
-
Demonstrated interpersonal skills and abilities
-
Ability to work with users that have a wide range of IT skills
-
Ability to make oral, written and graphic presentations utilizing various technologies
-
Three (3) years proven desktop support and maintenance experience within a business setting. Experience in a public library or educational setting is desirable.
Desirable:
-
Experience with Phone/telecommunications systems
-
Data wiring experience
-
Experience with tools and general repairs
-
M.L.S. or M.L.I.S. from an ALA-accredited institution
