Event Description:
In 2022, members of the Resource Sharing Committee of WNYLRC collected IPEDS salary data for academic library staff in the Western New York region and used Tableau to create interactive data visualizations. This resulting regional snapshot of the years between 2006 and 2021 illuminates impactful trends in the region and can be used to identify areas where library services to patrons could be improved. The data visualizations may also be used to advocate for the fair compensation of professional librarians and the sustainable growth of academic library collections.
In this webinar, the project team will discuss their process, sharing a model that other New York regions may adopt. Library staff interested in open data are encouraged to attend.
